20.5.1.  Conflict Management

Work Plan

  • Comment the article about the hitchhiker and the couch potato and possible suggestions to treat with them.

  • Comment the most typical errors when beginning to work in teams.

    • You are not born knowing how to work in teams. It is a skill that might be difficult to acquire and we are typically not used to it.

    • Be careful about the different roles in the meetings. There might be a team member that wants to coordinate all the meetings. We recommend you to avoid this. Enforce the role rotations strictly.

    • Avoid team disaggregation. It is a temptation, to divide the task in four part and submit a program that is simply the union of the four parts. Do not do it. We know. Instantly. Before submitting, the team must agree on what to submit and all members must be fully familiar with the deliverable.

    • Try to achieve a balance between the individual tasks and those that are covered in the team session. Both extremes are very unproductive. The team will perform optimally when you easily separate the tasks to perform individually and reserve team meetings for the integragion, sharing proposals and improving the solution.
